Of course not. The labels just change as you get older. Instead of (whatever the labels are that you used) you "grow-up" to become a liberal, moderate, conservative, blue collar, white collar, pink collar, working class, middle class, upper class, staff, management, boss, peon, whatever.
There are too many individuals to except everyone as individuals. People need labels to interpret the social world they live in. The key is to understand that a label is not the same as a person. That is called wisdom.

I think you have to take into account that many of those people label themselves. It's the "cool" thing at a certain age to put yourself into some sort of labelled class .... I see all to often on websites where kids declare themselves to be emo, goth, skater, etc. It's hard for the rest of the general population to avoid calling them what they ask to be labelled AS.
However, we can be thankful most grow out of it when they hit a certain age. I didn't fit any label then, and I pay no attention to them now.

sure.. when people start acting like INDIVIDUALS... kids try to live up to those classifications... its adolesence... if you dont wanna be 'emo' then dont wear an 'emo' haircut and cut yourself and moan and cry about why everone else thinks your wierd... skaters are different... every skater i know is proud to be a skater... me.. im a stoner.. thats just me.. i walk around stoned all day and when someone calls me a stoner i jsut nod.. thats who i am.. any one that looks at will know.. when you got on a volcom shirt and scuffed up skater shoes your a skater... would you rather it be the 50's and everyone have the same hair cut and the same outfit and the same stupid beliefs?

In ten years the labels will change. As you move further and further away from high school, other labels take over. It's part of our culture to feel apart of some type of group.

Why do people still feel the need to label Themselves as, etc etc etc?
we all identify with different aspects of life and want to show that to others.

unfortunatly society seems to need to define others by catagorising individuals. It is a way of putting people in boxes so that they can be taken out and put back.Society does not seem to have the intelligence to see past these labels and we are no longer defined by our individuality. It is societies way of distancing itself from each other. We have become unfoundly very judgemental as a nation and very influenced by the media.Sad sign of the times.Individuality should be emraced not feared.

how can you call chavs individuals...do you live in the real world...these "chavs" are the ones who hang around in groups trying to cause havoc anywhere they damn well want to...do you live in a "POSH" area...do they not exist where you are from...come and join the real world on a council estate and see the little bas***ds running riot...we cannot treat them as individuals because they dont act individually....

Always have always will......we all crave a sense of belonging and to label and group makes us then feel as if we are in a superior group.......mind you we don't all fel this need. But the belonging part is fundamental to each person.
