I am fairly solitary in my own way, but in general, I think a hermit would be seen as kooky or eccentric.

I would not have any prejudices against you because I would respect the way you choose to live your life. But I would think that you are missing out on some beautiful things, like love.
As long as you enjoy being a hermit, that's O.K. If it causes you distress, then it's not O.K.
Hermits don't care about what other people think because they lead a solitary life, so I wonder why you asked this question.
I wish you peace and joy.

I suppose I hold a stereotype of hermit as a man in a loincloth who lives in a cave and acts crazy. Blame Monty Python.

However, Monty Python hermits don't have computers so you must be a recluse instead of a hermit. Recluses avoid contact with other people, possibly because they are ugly or they just don't like them.

Once again, that can't be completely true because you are contacting people on yahoo! You must be an internet addict if you call yourself a hermit and still use the web. Do you play MMOs? Do you use a social networking site? Do you cry when your connection gets slow? That's my stereotype of internet addicts.

None at all!

In these wacky times, better to squirrel yourself in your own little abode, and shut off the world outside because it's gone crazy.

Maybe if we all start doing this, we'll return to the Dark Ages again, just before the Age of Enlightenmnet.

Then we will have gone full circle.

No, no prejudice at all.

Times change, and people adjust to those changes.

There once was a time when people would gather in the streets, exchange greetings, etc.

No more. It's all polluted now.

Monks in monasteries did just fine during the Dark Ages.

Good question.

Depends... since you have obviously reached out here, you seem at least a little interested in other people. However, if you're saying you prefer privacy and like being by yourself, than I can say I'm a bit of a hermit myself. But since true hermits completely isolate themselves from society (and may suffer from a mental state known as "Avoidant Personality Disorder"), I really don't believe you can call yourself one.

I wouldn't hold any prejudices against you...I tend to be a bit of a recluse myself. I suffer from agoraphobia and must force myself to leave my home. Lots of people don't understand; it's truly debilitating and not something I choose. So for me to hold prejudices against you would be hypocritical. And there's nothing I hate worse than a hypocrite.

Not a one . I've special love for the reclusives of this world especially with the insight that I've received from Buddhist monks and others in like fashion.
peace out and enjoy your life!

Seeing how we live in an extroverted society, I would suspect that a prejudice would exist based on that issue alone.

Peace.

P.S. I am an introvert.

None at all. I'm not too far from being a full-fledged hermit myself.

I have reclusive tendencies too, so I would say that I like you already.
