With my mother's roach-bait recipe! Mix equal parts sugar and boric acid (a powder available at hardware centers and drugstores). Sprinkle in crevices and corners where you have seen roach action. You can also pour the mixture in jar lids and put them under the sink or behind the refrigerator. Be sure to place the bait away from nosy pets or active children: Boric acid can be potentially toxic if ingested. Also, keep your kitchen as clean as you possibly can. Roaches are looking for food and like to hang out in dark, damp places. Check under the sink and toss out old product boxes or paper sacks -- the critters may be nibbling on them. If the infestation continues, you may have to use an insecticide (read the label first). Spray along the baseboards of your walls, underneath sinks and in cupboards, taking care not to spray around exposed food.
You do not need to be humane to these nasty little bugs..... You need to call out pest controll really.... They will infested everywhere inh your home....

A serious health hazard don't be humane just kill them with what ever you can buy, If you come into the room at night put on the light and you will see them scampering for cover
The previous tenants must have been, shall we say not very clean leaving floors unclean etc etc.
If you are just a tenant you should get the owner to do something about it, like yesterday
Try watching the filth files on sky three or channel 11 at 6.30am and you can see how much the health authority's in N.Z think of them as the resturaunts over there seem to be plaiged with them.

There is no humane way to deal with cockroaches. They are in fact very clean but where there is one there are another hundred plus hiding.

Call the council pest control dept - its not an invasion its an INFESTATION and there is no humane way. These little critters can live 10 days AFTER they have their head chopped off - they are tough to get rid of. You need proper traps with poison to get rid of them - they can also infiltrate your neighbours properties if adjoined xx

I don't think cockroaches have enough of a nervous system to be in pain (after all, they can live without a HEAD), so go ahead and kill them in the most expedient manner possible.

I have heard of people being humane with cutesy little mousies but with roaches???
These things are so reslient that if a nuclear bomb went off they'd still be crawling around.
You need to get pest control in to fumigate the place and get rid of them. You can't be humane with these things - they don't have enough of a brain to realise what's happening, they're not mammals, they're insects!

You can buy coachroach killer at homedepot or any store and place it under frige, cabinet, bathroom, under sink, and remember to replace a new coachroach killer every 2-3 months, the coachroach will disappear as they keep eating the paste. Or you may call the pest control, it may propably cost you a few hundred dollars. Good luck.

You can't be humane with cockroaches, if you want rid of them, you need to kill them, and even then it's not easy. Get someone in to do it - if you're in council or rented accommodation, the landlord is obliged to pay for it.

In a humane way? Why would you do that. They are so hard to get rid of, they'll even outlive us during a nuclear attack!!
Whatever you do, don't step on them, because if it's a femaleroach you are stepping on and she's carrying egg's then you'll get the egg's on your shoes (or feet, bah) and you'll spread them everywhere you go.
It's better the kick them away, but never step on them..
The most humane way?
Pick them up one by one :-)
I hope you are patience enough..

There is no humane way of killing cockraches. The only option to make them die as painlessly as possible is to smash them with slippers. Death is usually immediate without the roach coming to know anything. Rest all poisons and pesticides take some time.
