I agree with payal. Dude which world are you living in? Frankly stay-at-home women are quite boring, all they can talk about is cooking, shopping and maids!
And as far as the concept being outdated is concerned...well chew on this....According to the 2001 Census 40% of graduate women in URBAN India, do not work and are home-makers only.
Mind you, I am talking only about graduates, remember that literacy rates in our country are still very low (About 70%). So these are the better-off and well-educated women that I'm talking about, Wonder what about the rest.
Girls, I hope you have some answers.

hi
i think that the movie vivah is based on the real culture of india .today we have changed our norms and have given them the name of modernity .modernity doesnt mean that we deny our culture it's just that what best we can take by leaving orthodoxand stereotype mentality.girls are progressing today very much in india but still they have some limitations.these are not any hurdle in their career. girls are given some gifts like shyness ,delicacyand emotions.these are really gifts of god and their is just a vivah which is considered as a very sacred relationship in our culture so here is no matter of village girl or an urban girl .coz it's up to you to what u say modern or to what u say backward .these are just the 'sanskar'of our family .girls in metros call themselves very mode, just b'coz they put short dresses on them and guys behind them and if one wants to show holy relationships on cinema by this movie so u call it old village like ,just b'coz it's not having the sexy clips in this or nudeness?

So, what you want is all the girls should be shy, demure, they should sit at home and not do any jobs.Be a perfect pati vrata.
*sigh*once upon a time a question like this would have made me go mad with anger. But, not any more.Sorry, bro but whether u like it or not, such girls are very rare these days, and in the future they just might become extinct and THANK GOD FOR THAT!

its just a commonly used stereotype, which is common in all across the world.i did my under grad. research on a similar topic, and it was alarming to see how seriously people take this stereotype.
