She is now in a Residential care facility for Alzheimers. If she could it would help pay her monthly bill. As most people know, private insurance companies do not cover this unless it is a nursing home.

If she is at least 64-65 years old, not married to another now, and married at least 10 years; yes, she can. She has to apply for Social Security; and fill out the form to apply on someone elses benefits. I don't know when he died, but that should have been done at the time of death.

Check with the company that is paying it. Sometimes there is a clause that allows it, and sometimes the benefits cease when the husband dies.

you will not know till you try to get it for her. if she doesnt have too much coming in she should be able to draw what they call widows benifits. contact the social security office and see what needs to be done.

my husband died in feb 10,06
i receive widows benefits from SSI just apply takes 90 days to get answer
take death cerifitate.you get 20% of what he would GET
at least it is that way in Texas

i would think so unless one or both of them had been remarried. that is if your talking ssi. if its other benifits from work he might have other benificiaries. for a 401 k or life ins. or whatever he had there.

it depends on what country she lives in and what state. Also depends on the insurance that he had and what sort of job he had.
