Stress is one of the biggest causes of missed or late periods. Also, sudden weight loss or gain can throw your body off, especially loss. If you don't get it soon, or if it skips any more months, ask your Dr. If you are really skinny you might not have enough body fat to menstruate, and that's not a good thing, if you don't menstruate you end up with weakened bones and teeth. I know it's early to worry about that, you've only missed one period, but I thought I'd tell you just in case it becomes an issue. Good Luck.

Missing a period is quite a normal thing.
This can happen to you 2-3 times a year and does not in any way indicate that you are ill or pregnant ( I would however sugest that you check ).
Missing a period is induced by a lower supply of hormones that normaly circulate in your body during the days of your cycle. This simply does not cause the bleeding that your have been used to over the period of time, but in the next menstrual cycle that follows, this effect will be cleared.
The only real advice is that after your next menstrual bleeding you check the level of Haemoglobin and red blood cells in your blood, since these may fall a little below the expected physiological level, due to a more profound bleeding. Other than this it is quite normal.
I woudl however, advise you to talk to your gynaecologist since they will be able to do all the follow-up that you might require.
