When I was younger (highschool) I always tended to have older friends. That was just the way it was. For example, when I was 15-16 a lot of people thought I was between 18-23. The odd thing is I didn’t even think of myself as looking older then my age. The main thing with me was I really didn’t relate to many people my age. I had a fair amount of friends, and they where all a few yrs older then me. At 15 my two best friends were 18 (I’m still best friends with them, by the way) and it didn’t even seem strange. We all could relate to the same things, and mentally I think we were pretty much on the same level. I guess when I look back (I’m in my early 20s) it seems strange, yet it wasn’t at all. Also, I have never been trashy etc. Did any of you experience this? And why do you think it was that way for me?

I was the same way. Even today at 23, I have friends who are my age and who are a significant amount of years older. I think when you're young and hanging out with older people, it shows the maturity level you possess. When you're an adult, I guess you stop asking everyone's age and just look at people as people. If you have things in common with them or just enjoy their personalities, you don't even consider age.

I was the same way when I was younger. I always dated older guys and that put me with other people who were older. Sometimes people grow up or mature faster, I guess its their life experience or maybe its their intelligence, I'm not reaally sure. I know that the people my own age seemed so consumed with things that just seemed silly and trivial to me. I related more with my older friends. I don't think it was strange but sometimes I think I missed out on some things. All and all though, I wouldn't have changed a thing.

You may be mature for your age, or your friends may be immature. There's no written rule that says your friends have to be your age. And it wasn't like they were 25 or 30. You were all in highschool at the same time. I always had friends who were younger than I, just depends on where you are in the world and who you meet I suppose.

Nothing strange about it. Some of us think and find that older people than our age tend to be more mature, knowledgable and reliable.

My cousin in-law is 11 years old but when adults gather and chat,he seems to mingle fine with all of us. He is very inquisitive and lovable.
