This easily , casually used word packs a lot of punch.

Struggle actually relates to the tussle between the mind and the physical body. When we say the child is "struggling" to get up actually means thatmentally the child has decided to get up and stand. But the required physical co ordination is still lacking. Mind over the body confrontation is the struggle.

All the other types of struggle would appear to be different .... individual`s , country`s , .... But , ultimately all these could be traced ONLY to the conflict between the demanding mind and the yielding body.

Quite simply a struggle is the conflict of two or more wills.

Wills could be defined as...
-specific individuals (in a fight over position or posession, in a inequitable relationship--wanting different things, desiring the same thing but only one can have it like food or a prize)
-Portions of one's psyche like the angel and devil on our shoulder. Or even more simplistically a decision to be made.
-It could be the environment vs an individual
-environement vs a machine
-environment vs environment
-man vs beast
-beast vs beast
-etc.

Simple questions like this can be amazingly hard to answer.

It's so simple, it's complex.
Sounds like a job for a graduate student.
