If you want to transfer it to a bigger pot, you can buy special bonsai soil from any garden centre. You are supposed to keep it in the same pot and trim the top and root growth by 1/3 every year and repot it in the same pot to keep it bonsai.

Don't you re pot it in the same container every year? I think you should by carefully removing moss that is around tree and prune the roots as well as the branches to keep it to the initial form. As far as soil call a local bonsai society

trim 1/3 of the roots back and prune the foliage too.
plant in a bonsai mix in the same pot, the first few weeks will be vital to keeping it alive and water up to it, so mix some liquid seaweed in the bucket that you will soak the pot in.

this lessens transplant shock, makes feeder roots grow and increases microbial activity in the soil

Bonsai are supposed to be small. Prune the new growth. If you put it in a larger pot it will grow larger and no longer be a Bonsai.
