Not in a literal sense but by MS failing with the Zune, it could lead to die-hard Microsoft fans really starting to look elsewhere for a new OS, especially since Apple did the best thing and that is going with Intel. It just seems that Apple is doing everything right lately and Microsoft doing everything wrong like IBM did back when they got too big. It may be that we could compare (today's Apple) with (today's Microsoft) as we did with comparing (yesterday's Microsoft) with (yesterday's IBM). I think Windows has just gotten too complex to be "worth it" anymore, and I am a true Die-Hard Microsoft Fanboy that said that I will never own an Apple Computer but I am now considering it. I think that the final nail in the MS coffin will be when Apple makes their way into the Corporate PC world. What do you think, could this be the beginning of the end for the PC era?

I am not an analyst. However: Microsoft has outstretched to far more business areas than just the Zune or Windows.
Although their new Vista OS is frowned upon by a lot of users, because of the security restrictions and the DRM, it will be preinstalled on almost every PC that is being sold next year. You don't have much choice.
And regarding Zune: If it fails against the iPod, Microsoft will move on. They have other profitable businesses. Otherwise: If they can convince the user of the ease and integration of the device into Windows it might be a veritable foe to the iPod.

However, it will be a long time until something can really kill Microsoft although Apple is really starting to dig into Microsoft, with their Intel Macs being able to dual-boot into Windows if neccessary.
But then: Apple sells *their* Hardware with *their* OS. If a Mac User buys Windows, too, it's a win for Microsoft, as they don't sell Computers.

I doubt that will be the case, besides most programs people use today are only compatible for Microsoft's operating system and not for the Mac. Plus there really isn't anything wrong with Windows, it gets the job done, so there isn't really a need to change. I'm not sure that this is the end of the PC era because both Microsoft and Apple computers are PCs, even though I know what you are trying to say, just on a technicality.

I have seen and worked on a couple only a couple apples. As far as the OS goes, it's a whole new language, basically, like Linux or something. We that have been using the MS OS for years have gotten use to the terminology. I think I'll stick with windows, I used it since it was 3.1 and 7 floppies small. As far as hardware goes, it's easy and interchangeable in many cases. Every business I have worked for has used the Microsoft OS, I can't see everyone changing over.

A Macbook could be ideal for college and extra. it will very last you a lot longer than a pc. most of the solutions were telling you to stay with living house windows pcs, yet I trust you about Vista. it is were given the bells and whistles (which macs have had for various years) yet is only too buggy. living house windows can nonetheless be sensible to you, in spite of the actuality that, as you may deploy it on your mac and use both Leopard and living house windows on it, that is fairly sensible thinking maximum college pcs run XP. On excellent of that, in case you want to run both operating structures at the same time there are honestly 2 classes you should use to do it. besides, you should guage procuring XP (not vista, lol!) and installation it for you to use any living house windows software you want on your mac (or video games). lengthy tale short, get the macbook, because it comes with lots of significant classes for you to use and also you actually have get proper of entry to to each and everything living house windows in case you want it (and are keen to shell out the money to purchase it). EDIT: do not purchase the Macbook only yet! it is probable that Apple will be liberating new macs round September (they oftentimes launch some new products in previous due summer season/early fall), so be careful-- you would purchase that vivid new macbook really to have a sparkling one released a month later. for sure it can only be a sparkling iPod, thinking they are having a "purchase a mac for school, get a loose iPod" sale (which leads to *september*), yet which product they are updating is fairly up for grabs at this factor. will be both, honestly. Oh, and Steve Jobs suggested, like, very last week, that Apple is putting the ending touches on various new products to be released contained in the subsequent few months. hint.

I think it will give it a rival but no-one can kill Microsoft, it is simply too big and too widespread to hurt it. Especially as Vista is due soon and there will no doubt be a buzz around this.
