Sometimes it takes up to 15 tries before a child will eat new foods try having your wife pump milk and add it to rice cereal so he smells the milk in with it and it will help fill him up if this works for you then add the milk to other food to see if he will take them. good luck.

I think you should consult your doctor, as he shouldn't be so hungry. He is prob. just relying on Mommy's food source, and has gotten used to the comfort and food from her. You could have her pump and try to mix her milk with just a little rice cereal as at first a little goes along ways. Also look at bottles at the store, there are some that are suppose to help in the transition. A wider nipple and may be a better transition then the normal bottle. The vomiting is not a good thing. If this continues I would bring him in. Try just a litle rice cereal though, seeing that he isn't built up yet for other foods too well yet.

I agree. It is very very good that your son has only ate breast milk it has all the best vitamins and things that he needs right now. He is still basically a part of his mother even though he is not in her. I wish my baby would not eat
any solid foods at all she is soooooo skinny because somebody, (not me) started her on green tea and weird things right after she came out, since I could not take care of her then. Now she is not used to formula at all, just everything else like Gerber, bananas, applesauce, our plates, ..and I always try to get her to eat formula and it doesn't work!! I do not think your "problem"is a problem at all, I think this is very very good!!
My baby is 10 months old and she is like so skinny that she fits into 6-9 months clothes still and if they were tall enough for her she would be able to fit 3-6 months. So I also don't think that just because your baby is only on breastmilk thats why he is skinny. So I would just try feeding him more breast milk for now to fill him up!! Have the mother eat more and more vegetables and fruits and just healthy things .!

Talk to your doctor something could be wrong, if your doctor is not worried then talk to someone else. Have you tried giving him any juice yet? You can take some cereal and mix it with mom's milk or try mixing it with some baby juice make it thin but not to thin..and either put it in a bottle(even though they say not to do that anymore) or try the spoon and bowl...If you use the bottle and cereal and he still wont take it then try this: you can get medical tubing(like for breating machines) and attach it to the bottle(whatever way will work for you) hold the bottle above mom take and tape the tubing down so the baby thinks it's coming from mom and that should work...(don't remember where I read that I think it was on a baby site)...Cause if your baby doesn't start eating more other than mom's milk he might end up in the hospital and with a feeding tube...Trust me feeding tubes are not fun to work with - but they do help the babies...I'm a mom of preemie who was on a feeding tube for 3mos after birth..I'm not trying to scare you or anyone else for that matter, but something could be wrong and if it was me I would make an apt with my child's doctor as soon as I could just to make sure all was ok and get some tips on how to get him to start eating some other things...

Your son is trying to do what is best for him and you are trying to thwart him! Please stop! Children need only a mother's milk for the first year of life. This is a medical fact, and if you ask your doctor I am sure he will confirm this... If your doctor is a decent doctor!
Yes, having milk does mean that they will be hungry faster than if they are eating solid foods, but that is not a real problem. Parents are supposed to love their kids enough to feed them frequently! THERE IS NO PROBLEM except that his parents think there is a problem!
If you want to do what is best for your child feed him his mother's milk until he is ready for food of more substance-- this should be after one year of age! Obviously he will let you know when the time is right. Please accept his guidance on this one. He will know when he is ready.
Please don't ever force feed your child. His system is not ready for solids and this is why he vomits.
Please consult your doctor before making this situation worse!

Yes, you should tell the pediatrician. Something could be wrong with his tummy - there could be a stricture that won't allow the food to get into his small intestine for digestion (which is why he vomits the solids back up). My sister's baby had this same problem and it was easily corrected with a small surgery in her baby's belly.

Your son is making an attempt to do what's terrific for him and you're attempting to thwart him! Please end! babies prefer purely a mom's milk for the 1st 12 months of existence. this could nicely be a scientific reality, and in case you ask your wellbeing practitioner i'm specific he will verify this... in the journey that your wellbeing practitioner is a respectable wellbeing practitioner! specific, having milk does mean that they are going to be hungry quicker than in the event that they're eating stable meals, yet that's no longer a real project. mothers and dads are meant to love their little ones adequate to feed them often! there is not any project different than that his mothers and dads think of there's a project! in case you prefer to do what's terrific on your baby feed him his mom's milk until he's waiting for foodstuff of extra substance-- this could be after one 12 months of age! needless to say he should help understand whilst the time is suited. Please settle for his coaching in this one. he will understand whilst he's waiting. Please do on no account stress feed your baby.
