Of course this depends on the job, but if you can incorporate in your goals something that has to do with the company it is always a plus...
...for example, if you are interviewing for a sales position your short term goal is to obtain a job with a good opportunity for a sales position and that offers a product I believe in....and then of course add in what ever product they sale.
...long term goal is to become a sales manager! Good luck!

Tell him he should use a plural form of the verb to be in his question. Then grin and say that your short term goal is to get hired, and your long term goal is to make a lot of money for yourself by making a lot of money for your employer (but that you think you've pretty much blown your chances of doing that by correcting his English).
