I had no idea what it was about when I went to see it and it was so incredibly strange and powerful and disturbing that when it was over, I felt like I was on drugs or something!!
It wasn't until much later that I got over the discomfort of having been exposed to such visual stimulation and could realize that I actually loved the movie.

It was brilliantly, BRILLIANTLY done.

I liked "House of Sand and Fog" a little better....

same actress.... similar theme.... more realistic and less freaky.

I REALLY did like Requiem at first.... as an addict, I found it to be scary and depressingly truthful.
But I think that Jennifer Connelly plays a much better addict in House of Sand and Fog.... I really identified with that role.

Another good one - along the same lines is "Down to The Bone".
I just rented it last night.... it was great. Once again, not as "freaky" as Requiem or Trainspotting but just as honest.

specific I watched it couple years in the past. It grew to become right into a sort of action pictures that I in simple terms could no longer end watching even although i actual wasn't "into" the movie it grew to become into like i grew to become into mesmerized or something. Very weird and wonderful - left me with nightmares.

its amazing. a must see. brilliant acting directing cinematography editing music score -- i don't think i have seen a movie that was so well done on all counts. look for the author of the book its based on in the kitchen marlon wayans is working in towards the end of the movie -- its even a great little cameo for a really eccentric guy.

Excellent, particularly Ellen Burstyn. Overall it was hard to watch...but with its subject matter, it should be. Hubert Selby wrote the book, who was a brilliant writer of honest, brutal fiction. Another one of his works was made into a film, "Last Exit To Brooklyn" with Jennifer Jason Leigh.

One of the best movies I have ever seen. It's so intense and real. I always say I'll never watch it again, but I've watched it probably 5 times and it's better each time.

Oh, that was one of the greatest movies made EVER! I loved the way everyone at the end ended up screwed instead of the usual "happily ever after". Very depressing but great movie!

i liked it a lot, i rented it because i like Jared Leto and i wanted to see all of his films, i had no idea what it was about. i was freaked out while/after watching it but now looking back at it i would say it was a really good movie. at the end things seemed un resolved and sad like with harry and the mom (harry reminded me of my father) but i like how it ended, very real and haunting.

Excellent movie.
It's gritty and very realistic about drug abuse. I don't know if a lot of people would turn to the extremes the characters did, but each one of them breaks my heart. I'll admit that it makes cry when the mom ends up in the mental institution. You have to watch it!!!
