i upgraded my service to bell aliant high speed ultra and got the speedstream 6520 modem/router, ever since my laptop wont stay conected for more then an hour while the desktop never disconects, i've never had this problem b4 the upgrade.everything is up to date and connected properly and its not and interfearence problem. the only way i can get it to reconect is to go on the modem site and refresh it which is extremely annoying to do every hour. i get all different messages at different times some it cant find the certifigate to conect to the network, cant find dns server or default gateway and sometimes that theres a problem with the ip adress. how can i stop it from disconecting?

I am assuming you have a router connected to the modem? Just about a week ago I had a friend with a disconnect problem but worse. I ended up finding a bad port on the router that was being used BUT, then it started the disconnect - not often but just the same it would disconnect. I did a little research and found that the Speedstream modem she had did have problems - more frequently with the type of router she had.

What I suggest you do is get on Google and query "speedstream, name/medel of your router, allient high speed ultra and see what you find. Also, consider checking to see if there are any maint. issues going on with your ISP. I highly suspect that you have a problem with the modem or a compatability issue between a router and modem. Lastly, assuming you have a router, try removing the router from the system and see if it still goes down. That will isolate the of having a bad modem.
