Pakistan was once a Democratic Country...until about the mid 1980's, when the Military took control.

The latest Military take over was about 7 years ago when Musharraf took control from another Military leader.

Someone else here said... there is no Muslim Country on Earth that is, or could be a Democracy...that's not true.

The Turks have a Democratic Country.

Yes, they can.... if countries like russia can have democracy so can pakistan.

BUT, it is the common people who will have to desire it.

1. People in Pakistan will have to think of their own interest, rather than of what is happening in other countries, like Iraq, Iran, Israel, Palestine, or India
2. People should shed the conservative Islamic mindset and see to a progressive Islamic mindset.... something like Dubai today or 70s Afghanistan or like Iran during the Shah Period
3. They have to shed the India-centric approach to Politics and realize that minding your own business is better than "coveting thy neighbour".
4. People of Pakistan will have to separate religion from politics - an important ingrediaent of a progressive and functional democracy.
5. There are a few lessons to be learnt from the neighbours - Bangladesh had a dictator called Irshad who millitarily usurped power but, people's movement restored democracy....inspite of the ruler having the army under him.
6. Democracy must begin from home, the women must get equal rights as the men.

Why not, if the successive governments stop the India centric attitude, Pak can start the journey on democracy. As they do not have any other business than promoting terrorism, it will befall on them one day or the other. So they should stop this attitude and change their mindset. Otherwise it will be too late to go on the path of democracy.
