I take it that it means "yes" or "yep" or "yup" or something similar. Is it unique to a particular state or region?

Yup = yuppers
Cop = coppers
Pup = puppers
Flip = flippers (not really)
Lip = lippers (no!)
Sup = suppers (no!)

It is just a 'pet' or funny way of saying a word. Seems to only work with one syllable words ending in p. I guess....

Its stands for people in upper michigan. I have family there. I forget what the lower michigan people are called. I think its yupers.
