I have had my phone for quite a while now, and I want to upgrade to a new one. Can I buy any phone outright and use my old SIM card in it to have the same number?

depending where the phones from.
you may have to get the phone changed or converted,
it called open line.
um and if you have a provider like verizion,
there is no sim card so tha'd be impossible.
but for the most part it sounds ok

It is possible! Buy a versatile one with state-of-the-art facilities, you can continue on the same #! (depends also on where you are, what provider, though)
