am a firm believer in the idea that all things happen for a reason. Whether to test us, teach us, or strengthen us, each instance like the one you describe above occurs for one such possible reason. And in helping those folks you can remember this...

Hebrews 13:2
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

also:If you would change one thing in your life, everything else that happened would most likely be affected. Though it can be really bad when something happens, everything happens for a reason.

When we are in a bad situation it can usually teach us something to make us better people. We learn from everything we do. If we are given something good in life, it is also for a reason. If I find myself with some extra money at one point, but then have an unexpected expense, I know that extra money was given to me for a reason. I believe that God takes care of us in every situation. And that everything we do is for one reason or another. We may not know it at the time, but we will figure it out. There is a reason we do the things we doo.

I think things happen for a reason and God needs to explain to me why. Sometimes I don't get an answer and sometimes the answer becomes very clear, so I guess I can be satisfied.

Yes, I believe that everything happens for a reason; however I do not believe that everything is predetermined, and I definately think we have control (to some extent) over our own fate.
