Can you add? Can you subtract? Then you're qualified. Accounting math is easy. Remembering the latest accounting rules is more difficult, but it's fairly straight forward and you can look them up.

As an accounting major and former accountant, I think that accounting is a low risk move. Why?

Accountants are in demand and always will be.

Once you get a job, what do you do in marketing. Scrub work. Accounting... ok, same thing, but it's only for two years instead of an indeterminable period of time for marketing.

And once you're done with scrub work, what do you do? In marketing, you can continue to work for an agency and manage scrubs or you can get very luck and find an in-house job at a company where... you pick your agency. As an accountant - you can go anywhere because EVERY COMPANY needs one.

Ever notice that there are only a few job listings for marketing associates/managers? Ever notice that there is a HUGE list of people who need accountants? What are marketing guys with 10 years experience? Mid-level managers. What are accountants with 10 years of experience? Partners. Just look in your local newspaper. Look at the salaries.

Who's the first to get fired when times turn bad? Marketing.

Who has more fun? Duh... marketing and that's why I'm no longer in accounting. But at least you know beforehand what you're getting into.

A campus consultant suggested, "you prefer to jot down? you will desire to be in the college of Journalism!" Ding! It clicked and right here i'm immediately. you may nicely be extremely misaligned. examine it out. possibly that's a case of you loving financial issues and not the "bean counting." possibly you will get exhilaration from starting to be a financial consultant or fund raiser or...who is familiar with?
