Well this is simple. Either over come your fears or just plain dont get it done. But, from experience, the pain is not that bad. I had a friend of mine pierce my nose at home and it took like 20 minutes.. even then the pain wasnt unbearable. My mom got her nose done at a tattoo parlor and it took 5 seconds, no exaggeration! You feel (and hear) and little pop, and the pain is nothing worse than a minor bee sting that lasts for MAYBE a minute or 2. Believe me, if you get it done, you'll laugh at yourself for being scared of the pain.. it's nothing! And the scar.. wont happen. Im almost 100% native american and scar VERY easily, but you cant tell AT ALL that I used to have my nose pierced. The hole is so small.. it looks like nothing more than just another pore or something on your nose. And that's if you can even see anything there or not. It's not like an earring hole where you can see the hole for years and years after taking them out. A nose piercing is much much smaller!

Getting your nosed pierced is not that bad, it's like a hard pinch and your eyes might water a litlle.. As for the scar, if it's done right then you won't have one really, just a little hole that will go away if the ring is left out long enough. It's something simple enough that if you have a job interview or something else important then you can just take it out, but don't do it for a while till it heals because it will close.

The most you will get from a nose piercing is perhaps a teary eye but it shouldn't hurt.

A flu shot hurts more than a nose piercing and trust me, I have a low tolerance for physical pain!!

I decided last year that I wanted one (just a little one on one side) and I was so incredibly nervous about it...And for NO reason!!

It really did not hurt at all and as for any scars remaining, I wound up not liking the look of a nose piercing on me, so I had it removed after about a month. The hole is tiny, so tiny - it looks like a pore on my nose.

If you ever decide to remove it or get ride of your piercing entirely, chances are no one will ever know it was even there in the first place!

Nostril piercings are actually high up on the ouch scale. Have you ever had to pop a pimple under your nose or scratched that area? Kinda that sort of pain. If it's done with an 18g needle the scar should be only tiny & easily covered with makeup. You can also treat scars with vitamin e capsules massaged in. The better you take care of the fresh piercing the less it will scar as well.

It doesn't hurt too bad, like a pinch. Is over in secinds anyway so you don't really have enough time to register pain. Your eyes might water because your nose is connected through the sinus' but other than that you will be fine. As for the scar that it will leave, thats something you will have to face when and if you decide to take it out and leave it out. I had mine pierced 7 years ago and decided to take it out last year and the hole still hasn't closed up, can still stick the stud in if I want to. People always notice the hole and ask why I'm not wearing a stud in it, so it is noticable even though its small. If you really want it go for it, but be aware that if you do decide to take it out eventually, there will be a noticable mark there.

as a former body piercer i can tell you that the procedure is quick, and the amount of supposed pain is minimal. if you go in relaxed and don't get yourself all worked up it won't be that bad. as for the scar, if you remove a piercing it depends on how long you had the piercing in before you remove it there is the chance that the piercing will remain open. though over time it could heal up completely. in any case if you take care of it during the healing process and there are no complications such as infection. there will not really be a scar. though if it does heal up completely you can feel a nodual where the piercing would have been, similar to that of a healed ear piercing. so if you do decide to get the piercing i recommend using bactine to clean the piercing. that is what i recommended to my clientele. it's a good antiseptic and aids the healing of the piercing. another suggestion is for the type of jewelry, get it done with a "nos til screw" it won't come out as easily as a "nose-bone" or a "nostril stud".

If you really want it, go for it! I pierced mine 5 years ago (a simple stud), and the pain was all but non-existent. It's comparable to having blood drawn, as far as the scale of agony. You won't notice it, save for the initial sting of having metal shoved into your skin.

As far as scars are concerned, you really have nothing to worry about at all. I took my piercing out about two years after I got it, just because I decided I no longer wanted it in. There was a tiny hole (about the size of a pore), which closed up after a month or less. Today, I can't even see where it was pierced. As long as you have it done by a professional (make sure they use NEEDLES, not a piercing gun) it will be a fine experience. Go ahead, mix your look up if it appeals to you. Do whatever feels right.

For what it's worth, I was deathly afraid of needles most of my life. Now I plan to re-pierce my nose at some point, perhaps my eyebrow (said to be even less painful), and love the experience of getting a tattoo.

Oh, and I have a distinct feeling that everyone on here who says something as absurd as "You will regret it the rest of your life" has never done such a thing, or known anyone who has had a simple piercing. They speak out of ignorance, and possibly a hatred for anything less than conservative. You will notice that everyone posting who has personal experience in this area will assure that it is a relatively painless procedure, with little to no consequence.

If you've had your ears pierced you can handle your nose being pierced!

The stud for a nose is way smaller than most ear studs, so don't worry about the scar..especially if your nose is pierced in the right place & by a professional.

Rather than being afraid of a scar, I've always been afraid of the nasty repercussions of getting the 'flu..during & after! Eeeyuk!

Ignore the people who are bagging you for wanting a piercing whilst also considering removing it.
Better a piercing that'll grow over eventually, than a tattoo that'll be there for life or cost a fortune to be rid of.

As a 45-year-old woman & mother of a 23-year old..colour your eyes & nails crazy; pierce to your hearts content; do whatever you want to your hair; but give many, many years of consideration to a tattoo!

Also consider how you will look in old age. By then you wont have to worry about the scar,,just the great hole in your nose.Imagine the spray effect when you sneeze.Serious I believe it is quite painful especially if its done in the cartilage under the septum and there is a much higher risk of infection. Think about this as its a real 90s thing that will always give your "era" away. If you have to get a piercing get one were it doesn't show and can have some use beside fashion statements.

Be afraid. Very afraid
Far too many people are showing up with ruiened faces. We have a guy at work who a coupla of years ago did so. He followed the new body disfigurement fad and is now mad at how utterly stupid he was to put holes all over his body not to mention tatoos on his neck, arms, back, chest. Now he;s a littl eolder and the girls he would like todate or maybe marry doesn't want anything to do with his investment in body disfigument. There isn't too much of that you can see that is ulgy. he could have song that song "what was I thinking".
nose rings have ben known to spread the holes eventually causing an actual opening in the nose. not to mention snot streaming out the side or top of your nose. Really nasty. The nose has hairs which act as filters an nothe rhole there allows dust, germs, mosture /flumes ext. you don't really need.
At this time plastic surgeons ar edoing a brisk business patching holes in noses and other body parts. It usually doesn't last too long or you have to draft skin in some plces if the ring has worn it too far out.
