I have to lift heavy boxes all the time at my work. After I am off work, I put my feet up and relax or go in a nice hot shower. On my days off, I go to the gym to help strengthen my muscles.

You didn't specify what type of work you do. Obviously if it's a labour intensive job, you should take a short break like ten minutes for water and some stretching. If you work in an office, it's more flexible. You can take a coffee break or make some soup in a cup. That will take your mind off the workload for a while. Step out of the office for 5 minutes if things get really tough. Switch off your cellphone and take a brisk walk around the block. Try to clear your mind and think pleasant thoughts like a funny joke you had just heard or your child laughing, etc. If your office is close to some shops, buy yourself a small treat like a magazine or a small candy bar. Then return to your work place and prioritize your workload. If this happens too often, maybe your office is understaffed and you need to talk to your supervisor. Whatever it is, never complain to a colleague. It's unprofessional and make you look incompetent.

Hi Sapphire,

I would call this a happy problem. First of all, it shows that you are important, because there is much work for you to do.

I figured that nowadays the world's a lot more competitive, and people generally work harder for longer hours, so the point is how you see work and living.

Frankly, I work for about 60 hours a week or so, and still, there is never an end to work. Bearing that in mind, life would be easier if you do your best during your work hours, and to stay away from it after office hours. It is important to find a balanced work and personal life, otherwise one gets burned out really fast. It would be good to make time for your hobbies, to catch up with friends etc.

If it is inevitable that you work such long hours, try to find something good about your work. So that instead of working for the sake of it, you can actually enjoy doing it, and this would make life a lot easier.

Good luck.

I always try and look at the situation from the outside. I step back and look at what needs to be done and the priorities. Breathe! Remember that your work isn't going anywhere, and everything takes time. There isn't anything that will explode if it isn't done "right now". It's all about the importance of things and prioritizing (sp). Be sure and do one thing at a time and not try and do a million things at once because they will all be late because they are half done.

Take time for yourself outside work and schedule yourself some relaxation time. Turn your phone off. Work will be there in the morning. Get sleep!

I think all of us are over worked these days, do more with less seems to be the corporate ideal. I scoot out of work at the end of the day (refuse to work late but will start early) and head back home. There I get to lock the door, keep the wolves at bay and just enjoy my down time. Read, watch TV, write in my journal, doesn't matter...it's all about me when I shut the door and whatever I want to do is just fine.

Finish one thing at a time. Do what's important first and complete it as best as you can before moving to the next task. Be sure to remember to ask for help and don't say yes when ppl ask you to do extra favors. Make sure you take your breaks and really get away from your desk! If you can work a Saturday or late night when no one is there to take care of stuff you couldn't get to, but don't do that too often if you can help it.

SMILE & WATCH A GOOD COMEDY! That will help relieve ALOT of stress too!! :)

If you are at work then it would be best to be away from your table or the place that had gave you that "heavy" feeling, you can walk, sip a cup of coffee, get an ice cold soda (your choice), then go back when you feel relax.

When you are not at work, hmmm... maybe you should gave some load to others, you are probably taking it all by yourself.

Go workout. Youll have more energy to get through the day and it will reduce you stress level. Sitting around watching tv, reading a book, or talking on the phone doesnt really do anything for you. You need to do something physical.

Take a friday off and give yourself a long weekend. Maybe reconsider finding another job that is less "heavy" on these days off. Start looking on Monday.

Then , slow down. List down the first things that are very, very urgent. Then do them first. Deal with each one a time. One by one does it. Don't panic but be diligent. Or you could ask help from colleagues, who are willing to do so.
