I'm a loner and never had any friends but I have had some acquaintances. Right now in school the teacher assigned my table a group project. We are procrastinators so we left the project until the last two days. My group plans to meet up for lunch and finish the project. Problem is, I am a loner so I have spent all my lunch time in the library ever since school started. Recently (just like today), I met this guy in the library and he's been helping me with my homework. He says I should go to the library tomorrow so he can help me some more. What should I do?
Please, please help. I need answers real bad. This is the internet so I can't express it but I will have MUCH gratitude for someone who gives me a good answer. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.
Notes:
I'm a guy
The guy I met is unaware of my group meeting
I agreed to meeting the guy tomorrow
The project is worth 3/5 of our grades
Please consider:
If I tell my group to work in the library and they say no

If my group agrees and meet the guy, I'll be torn between two subjects.

This group activity is a way for you to open your horizons and is giving people an opportunity to see what a great person you are. If you invite them to the library include the fact that you'll have extra help. That should go over well. If they don't want to your grades are more important. Go to the library and let the guy know in advance that you've got to finish the project. Apologize and tell him that you'll meet when it's over.

I think it is important for you to go for your project meeting, after all, it seems to be of material importance to your subject. By missing this out, your group members may think that you do not wish to contribute to the group as much, which may worsen your current relationship.
However, it is good that you've made a friend in the library. I don't see much contradiction here. My suggestion is to tell your friend about your project team's meeting schedule, and offer to meet him on another day. Since it is a group decision to meet on the same day, there really isn't much you can do. Just tell him the truth. I am sure any reasonable person would have no problem with this. That way, you get to join in your group discussion, and your friend wouldn't feel rejected.
One more thing, maybe you want to try to find out what is it that makes it difficult for you to fit into a group? Once identified, maybe you can start to do something about it. Everyone needs friends. Maybe you are just too shy and need more practice to make more friends.
All the best!

I'm not sure what being a loner has to do with getting your project done. you need to meet the group to do the project. you're just as responsible as they are for it. You should tell the other guy your sorry but you forgot about the project and take a rain check.

Personally I'd say to complete the project. He should understand the choice you made since it's a large percentage of your grade. Just be sure to apologize to him the next time you see him.
Oh, but do propose the idea of working in the library to your group. Perhaps your new friend will help on your project as well.

Meet up with the group and then get good grades. Go to a good university, graduate and get rich. Then everybody will want to be your friend.

Stop in to tell your friend you can't stay, then hightail it to the cafeteria. If the school has a rule that you can't go to 2 places at the beginning of a period, then just go to the cafeteria and apologize to him next time. He won't die.
