Harmony isn't the word I would use, but they will grudgingly work together. Think back to the "Gang of 14" that formed the comprimise ending Judicial filibusters and the use of the "nuclear option" in the Senate. A similar middle will be formed for most policy decisions made in the Senate since anything outrageously right-wing won't pass and anything outrageously left-wing will pass by one vote and then get vetoed with no chance of an override.
The end result will actually be a sort of populist domestic policy that should turn out very nicely. Center-left domestic policy is the antidote to what currently ails the current government. Minimum wage increase, deficit reduction, reduction of Rx drug prices, fixing the AMT, making Bush tax cuts permanent for income under $100,000 and letting them expire for income over...these are the types of policies to look for in the next 2 years if the era is marked by gridlock comprimise as I imagine it will be.

I think both parties realize that they would only be shooting themselves in the foot with partisan axe-grinding at this point. Bush and Pelosi get along pretty well as individuals, so that bodes well. The Dems haven't really mentioned impeachment, investigation and all that too much, and the GOP seems concilatory on foreign policy.

For the good of the country, the Democrats and Republicans must unite after the election so that US will maintain its stature as a superpower.

I don't see why not. There isn't more than a nickel's worth of difference between them anymore. Both parties think they have all the answers, they've both been in power too long and they all deserve impeachment for allowing the invasion of the states.

Republicans have proven these last six years that they can't work with EACH OTHER, Other countries, let alone with the Democrats. Look at the horrible mess this country is in....They have even caused great rifts among citizens and public opinion. All we can do is wait and see what happens these next two years...

What far left talk are you listening too???? Sounds more like the far right talking about what they think the left will do, then anything the left has actually said.

Yes, the Dems will pass the laws, and the GOP will sit quietly in the corner wearing a dunce cap. I think the arrangement will work out nicely.

Why should this day be different from all the rest?
Without the North Pole and the South Pole, you wouldn't have the Equator.
