Look everywhere and move everything!!!!! Turtles are pretty good climbers, so don't rule out looking above the floor level. You might also try putting some shallow dishes of water out for the turtle to maybe find. Good luck...you will need to find the little guy quickly.

Oh my gosh I'm sorry... A couple weeks ago I left the lid off the cage of my corn snake for about 2 minutes when I went to get him for water and by the time I got back into the room he was gone! I tore apart half my room trying to find him, and finally I found him at the back of my closet curled up in one of my old sweaters. They really can get into anywhere, so it's crucial you check and double check anywhere he could possibly be, and even check those places ou think he might not be. A good idea would be to take his cage, lay it on the floor with the heating lamp on it, and the water dish still inside. At night he'll probably get cold and go in search of the nearest heat souce, so he'll go back to his cage and if you keep the lid off he might crawl back in and stay there. If that doesn't work, Turtles get dehydrated easily and can go longer on no food than no water, but keep both a water dish and a food dish on the floor for him, because if he gets hungry/thirsty, he will come searching for food! Well, good luck!! I really hope you find your turtle :-)

It will be fine for a while if it was healthy to begin with.

The problem is that turtles are surprisingly good at hiding, and masters at staying put.

Get on your stomach as close as you can to where it probably hit the ground and start looking for dark hiding spaces- under furniture, in piles of clothes, in bags or sacks, etc. Clean up or block as many options as you can as you go.

It probably did not get far, and is probably a lot closer than you think!

check under everything and in everything including shoes, check under all furniture, stove, fridge.try looking under the heat vent some are a few inches of the floor he could have got underneath, even look above floor level they have tiny claws but can climb pretty good, check the couch cushions and around or in the coffee table and in every nooks and cranny
i would leave dishes of water all over the floor, hopefully he find one during the night and be lying in it when you get up in the morning

5 days is'nt much for a turtle. follow along the baseboards and look for hiding places, then check under all the furniture. use a flashlight to check dark areas

it will probably dehydrate -- they need water. they can get into all kinds of places -- like under cabinets and places you can't get to. i had a roommate with a cat that could go behind the refrigerator and get under the kitchen cabinets. and that was a cat. a turtle can do much more.
