Both Thomas Jefferson and John Addams were two founder or writers of the Declaration of Independence who became the president. Jefferson was Addams vice president and then became president after Addams.
Addams was the second president and Jefferson was the third. Both died on the 4th of July in 1821 hours apart with Jefferson dying first by a few hours.

"Founders"? Do you mean authors? Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration and later became President. John Adams was on the committee to write the Declaration and later became President. Benjamin Franklin, who also served on the committee to write the Declaration, did not go on to become president.
