My daughter wants to go a small campus. I don't know why this appeals to her. Why is going to a small college good?

I have a fellow nursing student that just transfered from a small campus. She loved it because of the atmosphere. You feel like you're a part of the campus and culture because you get to know a greater percentage of the students. She got to know nearly all the FT professors at some point, constantly ran into students she knew, and felt at home there. The problem with the school we are at now...you can literally walk by thousands of people and not bump into a familiar place. It feels like a zoo and you don't fee like you are part of a campus community.

Some people are more comfortable in a smaller, more personal atmosphere. They are afraid they will feel lost on a large university's campus. The classes are usually smaller and therefore have more professor-teacher/student ratios. It's easier to learn when you feel you can ask a question.
Is she going to college right out of high school?

Small colleges are great, because pre-reqs for certain programs such as nursing, require less pre-req classes and the professors seem to be more concerned in your learning process and spend more time answering question after class time. When she decides on a college be sure that she checks out (ratemyprofessor.com) this is a great way to check out the professors. She will evaluate other students opinions on certain instructors and this will save money in the long run.

Well im the same as your daughter.
I like to go to a small school because everyone is nice to everyone. There are no separate groups so theres no bitching. Everyones friends!
trust me small schools are much better than big ones.
