Sweetie,i really wouldnt think that would be something they would recieve peer pressure for. However, there are more serious issues that are pushed with peer pressure. Some of those are, engaging in sexual intercourse, drugs, alcohol, smoking. The list actually endless and alot of it is dangerous to their health. You may think that some of those situation arent dangerous to ones health, but at that age it is.Sexual activity is dangerous to them, because they are not mature enough to handle the responsibility that comes along with it.They are not educated about their bodies and ways to protect them. They can contract an std or possibly fall pregnant, and at a young age, they arent ready for any of it.Drugs are addicting and can cause you to lose your childhood for being caught with drugs.Alcohol:While under the influence of alcohol one does things that may be very dangerous to them.Things that they may never engage in while sobered up but do it because they dont have control over their actions at that particular moment.Smoking:That damages ones lungs, and possibly causes heart disease and lung cancer. It is a severe health risk to ones body and yet so many seem to think it is so "cool".Second hand smoke is even worse,so they are not only hurting themselves but those around them, friends and family.
As i said the list is endless, this is only a few topics. There are plenty of sites out there about peer pressure and how serious it may get.Dealing with it takes alot of courage and standing up.I know at that age it is very hard, because "everyone is doing it".That isnt always so,and you never have to be one to just fit in with the crowd. The ones who fit in arent the ones who are remembered past their school years. Its those who stand out and stand for what they believe in that really are remembered. To find a site simply google it or Yahoo! Search it and im sure you will get very many sites. If you are dealing with it,please speak to a trusted adult or your guidance counsellor.Have a good day,Good luck.
