Because It shows that you have dedication to follow through with what you set your mind too. Just because someone has the intellegence to do a certain job, does not mean that they will be good at it or that they are emotionally capable of it for a lifetime.
It shows that yes you do know your stuff. No matter what you do, it is up to you to show them how good you are. With or without a paper. But the degree is something that no one can ever take away from you.

Think of this the next time you need surgery or a root canal done.. you can simply ask what exams they passed to do these procedures... the degree designates a degree of competency..

i am currently pursuing an associate degree and my reasons for doing so are the obvious(a)as a teacher i need to upgrade my self (be qualified)the process is on going and things change all the time take for example there is no longer 9 planets (b)in my country the money is apart of it(c)going to the classrom with an awareness in every field of study helps such as the way students think ,the changes they experience at the adolescent stage and what they do determines their character.

Aren't degrees a pain in the ***? It's mostly ********, as far as I know. You'll get on-the-job training anyway.
