If they are FREE to choose - and then choose to do so - doesn't that make it much more meaningful than being afraid not to?

A veil forced upon a woman is a restriction. If she is forced to hide herself from the world because some men force it upon here, that is pure sexism and in a way, abuse of woman. Now, if the woman wants to wear a veil, that is fine, but that woman must want to do so out of her own free will and not due to outside pressure.

Yes. Imagine being beaten up or killed because some religious wak job thinks its YOUR fault that he is "tempted".
Rather than taking responsibility for there own desires these men use it to pick on women.
The veil is pretty dehuminizing too. Also its really impracticle.
Now the Hajib which does not cover the face is different but this should be the person's choice to wear.

Some people think the veil is freeing because it takes looks off the table and forces people to deal with them as they are. But I think that also depends on what kind of veil. Hajib, maybe; burqa, no.

yes-if they can make their own decision to wear it or not -without fear of legal-or drastic social-repercussions-than it is truly a freedom-a person's expression tells me as much as their words do-sometimes more- I would feel stifled if I lost the ability to show the world my feelings-however-a veil would come in handy-occasionally-as would a gag-I can't truly say that I'm completely impressed with every emotional outburst I've ever had.

i think woman should not wear them, hiding them behind veils is basically keeping them inside and hidden. it's just another way for men to control women.

I don't think it's an issue.. although seeing a woman clad in black cotton head to tow.. and i mean she even had full arm gloves on and only her eyes exposed.. at the BEACH.. while her husband lovingly frolicked in the surf and smugged his toe in the soft sand..
I dunno.. it just didn't look right to me..
sorry..
I'm sure that woman wanted to go for a swim..

Everybody deserves equal freedom.
Just because there are sexist laws doesn't make all of the people sexist.
