Put the pants in the freezer for a while till the gum hardens, then carefully scrape off as much as possible. Then follow up with a stain remover.

Some ideas I heard on gum: rub peanut butter all over it until gum comes out, or, put the white of an egg on it and leave for a couple of minutes, or, mayonnaise, or vinegar (heated vinegar works faster), or soak the item in lemon juice than wash in regular cycle of washer. Good luck

GOOP OFF is a great product. Peanut butter works well too. It breaks down the gum and you can rub it off. Be careful of the grease stain left over but you can put dawn liquid on it. Rub it in and then launder when all the gum is off.

Spray with WD-40.
It will loosen the gum in a hurry.
This also works great on removing bumper stickers, tar, and wax from your car.
I have used countless cases of the stuff on all my motorcycles and it never fails.
Just make sure and pre soak the pants before you wash them.
The aroma of WD-40 will attract gear heads and bikers.

Put them in a freezer, after they have frozen, lay them on something hard and hit them with a hammer or something like a hammer. The gum should break into small pieces. You can then pick up the pieces and discard them.
