It really depends on what you want to get into. I agree with the previous poster that sales jobs will give you best income for your time spent. At 17 you should think of a job that will give you experience towards your long term career goals. If you see yourself wanting to waitress at a high class joint down the road, now would be a good time to get started with a low end sit down resturant like Denny's or International House of Pancakes. If you have any computer savvy and are organized you can get a job as a personal/administrative assistant for a small business... that's great experience regardless of what industry you may want to get into down the road. If you love people, try something like working at the YMCA... you can make a lot of contacts working a place that everyone uses. Good luck!

If you've got personality, style, and know how to make things happen, get into sales. It's a decent paying job where you don't have to bust your bum to make a buck. Jobs in sales could be for any paper media, car company, or do make-up. It doesn't matter how old you are in these positons as long as you have personality and a way about you that makes people want to do your will.

If you know how to use a computer, you might could get a receptionist job or something in an office. You could go to a employment agency and see if they have any jobs with paid training or no experience necessary.
