I was in the store one Saturday afternoon. There was a little girl in there about 10 years old. She wanted a toy or something and her dad had obviously told her no. She flung herself on the floor and started a full out temper tantrum. Her dad just stood there all red in the face. He looked over at me and a couple of other women standing there and I said"If you snatch her up from there and swat her butt she'll stop that." Well it worked in a manner of speaking, he snatched her up looked at me like I was the biggest abuser in the world and ran from the store. I didn't put up with that stuff from my son and yes mam I swatted that butt if he even thought about something like that. That's what's wrong with kids today, they don't have the proper amount of respect because there are no consequences to their actions.

I guess it depends on a number of reasons why.. kids might be tired, parents lugging them around while they shop. Always giving them things and then not allowing it at that time, causing the outburst.
I have been around these occurences before, a number of times, it's somewhat awkward. I try not to interfer unless the kids are hurting each other or look like they need some help with something and are frustrated, sometimes though I will just go talk and see if that helps them (this of course is if i know the parents).

Once my dad invited his friend and family over to our house for dinner. The had a son who was about 12 - 15 in age. He made a couple rude comments to my dad. Including one about kicking my dad's a**. When asked how his dinner was he said that it was "horrible", his mother who was sitting right there said nothing. Finally I spoke up and said "That's probably because we dropped your burger on the floor", lol. My brother who is about the same age couldn't wait for him to go home. He said he was so wild and obnoxious.
There's also another family we know that when they come over they don't pay any attention to their kids. They get invited over once in a blue moon because we end up babysitting their kids the whole time they are here. There's like 4 kids and 5 if the dad brings his sister. All the kids are under the age of 13 and most of them are not even in school yet. Don't even ask me why they get invited because I drag my feet when I hear their coming over.
I don't care how someone lets their kids act at home but when someone is invited as a guest they should teach their kids manners. They should also watch their kids!

It happens all the time. Children out of control, often trying to get a parent's attention, and the parent oblivious.
I see children behaving in a manner that I never would have dreamed of as a child. I think it's an outgrowth of so many people having such unwarranted high self esteem. All that praise and "I like you just the way you are" clap-trap.
When that happens, if you can, tell the child you heard that mommy is going to buy her/him/it a pony.

because parents think their little johnny is the best and everyone else thinks so. I had to deal with this crap a number of times. I was at publix and these parents had their like 5 yr old that couldnt even see pushing the cart the idiot kept hitting me in my ankle it hurt like hell the parents saw and just giggled like it was cute? When i go out to dinner a nice place, stupid little kids are running around throwing food on the floor and its cute. I hate parents like that they need to spank their stupid kids!

I was shopping the other day and this little girl about 2 screamed and cried the whole time I was there. Her Mom was making her sit in the cart. I had such a headache by the time I was finished.
