I never read the book nor do I ever plan to! Many of the scenes I could figure out before they even happened. I could hardly wait for the movie to end. It had a dumb ending (last 10 minutes, which I figured out beforehand). I hope there's no sequal! People actually believed this movie?

I understood the meaning even though it wasn't based on fact! It was just a movie!
I rented the DVD. I get 62 movies a month (2 per day) for only $19.95 and that's all the new releases plus others.

I read and loved the book - not that I believed its premis, but I thought it was a great piece of fiction.

The movie however was absolute cr*p. They changed alot of the scenes, cut things out, added things that weren't necessary and most of all, Tom Hanks was just plain awful in the lead role. He did it no justice at all. Normally I'm a Hanks fan, but in this case, I'd go so far as to say he ruined the whole movie.

As usually, the book was SO much better! I think Tom Hanks was a poor choice for the film. I think the film also simplified the book making it seem like a no-brain-er. The book posed more questions and backed up it's theories.

Loved the book, hated the movie

No, the movie was critically panned by most critics, receiving a meager 24% on Rotten Tomatoes (which compiles all the national critics' ratings).

My sister was a HUGE fan of the book, saw the movie and told me that Tom Hanks was not the right choice for the lead, he was too understated, kind of wishy-washy. We're both fans of Tom Hanks but she said this was a stinker movie. I have not seen it, prefer to wait for most movies to come to HBO, Cinemax, etc.

No, this movie was not supposed to be good at all! Sorry you subjected yourself to it. They said even Tom Hanks stunk in it and he is always good. I am sure they will not make a sequel!
