So after a week of no bowel movements, a catscan with negative results, laxatives, enemas, and a magnesium citrate drink, with no results other than fluid, My doctor told me that its probably stress and I should be fine and to just eat dried fuit and grains. Can anyone relate to assure me that ill be ok?! I havent had any serious pain, only random sharp pain and general discomfort since the beginning. My doctor tells me the sharp pain is musculuar so it has nothing to do with my bowel movements.
Will I go eventually? Im sitting here praying to poop! it sounds ridiculous, but im scared none the less.

I would see another health care type person. No movement in a week is really excessive. See another doctor or try one of those colon health type practitioners.

I am going to be very blunt. Your doctor is an idiot. Be smart and find a new one. Any doctor that blames 'stress' for a potentially serious problem is a doctor that lacks modern, scientific, knowledge about the pathophysiology of bowel function.

If your condition is caused by 'stress' then the doctor needs to answer these questions (in detail and with no b.s.):

1) What is the mechanism? What are the biochemical and physiological pathways that are disrupted by stress? and Why are they disrupted?

2) How does the doctor know these pathways are disrupted in you? What tests did he/she perform that demonstrate this 'stress-induced' pathyphysiology?

I guarantee you that your doc cannot answer those questions without bullsh*ting you. Find a better doctor.

P.S. You have the right to ask these questions of your doctor and to expect valid answers!

Best wishes and good luck.

This is going to sound very weird... but my brother in law only goes three times a month! i have no idea how he does it... but he admitted it to us... he's always been that way though. If this is something that has just come about, then i'm not sure... i'd go see another doctor, but i'm sure you'll be okay!

that doc is crazy! it is totally NOT normal... i suggest you change doctors at once or go for a hospital check-up :) my bowels are sluggish too, like every alternate day then i poop--sometimes it's two days before i get to poop. and i take lots of fiber, water, acidophilus, colostrum, chlorella, etc.

Doesn't sound good, i'm not sure, but i thought that unpassed waste could release toxins into the body. I would go to a specialist, or if you already are, go to a different one. Good luck.
