been cutting for about 14 years. sometimes a lot sometimes not...it varies. If you want to know what particular problem makes me cut it is always something different depending on the probs in my life at that moment.
Studies have shown that people who cut usually have a hard time expressing feeling (especially anger) outwardly and look to cutting as a release. When you cut the brain releases endorphins that stimulate the same part of the brain as opiates. It is a chemically proven reaction in the brain that calms and comforts the cutter.
and as far as cutters just being to chicken to do the job...most cutters are not suicidal and often care for their wounds very carefully by washing and dressing them afterwards. Its not about a suicidal fantasy but a means of coping with emotion in an unconstructive way.

the book "cutting" by steven levenkron is a good book for information and better understanding.

you can also get more info on self mutilation at his website http://www.levenkron.com/

The body is a text upon which we read subjectivly. There is of course a gap between the objective and subjective, this in part alllows for a boundary of translation. So basically what we think and what we do and what we think we do and what we think we see/hear/taste etc isnt what we what we think and what we do and what we think we do and what we think we see/hear/taste/ etc. 'We think we cut', for example, is a universe of space different from cutting. The semiotics of the word 'cut' itslef would suggest 'somthing of precision' or a 'sharpness in movement' unless of course you understood the creation of grammer itself and saw that the language we speak is a creation and any language to descibe our exisitence is spawned from this creation/invention/non pure application thus to talk alone thus negates exisistance itself. Do you really cut when you cut. What do you cut? And who do you cut for? All these questions are being communicated with a language that can never ever communicate a pure and infinitly small moment of a thousand simultanious feelings from a million alien species.

I'm not a cutter, but I have something to say. Being a cutter is the most retarded thing in the whole world. Nobody cares, and I know its all for the attention. If you really wanted to commit suicide you'd cut your throat, not your wrist. So stop being such a bunch of emo ******* and finish the job.
