Because teenagers think they know it all and are only thinking of themselves. When in reality they don't know all they think they do. They live in a fantasy world where all their bills are paid by mom and dad then think they are grown ups! You can add ungrateful to that too!

Selfishness, everyone wants control. Teens think they are old enough to guide themselves and parents think that until you are 30 you need a hand to hold. Everyone wants control, and so in the end, they fight.
