At 17 weeks it can still be hard to tell. Also, it's a lot easier to mistake a boy for a girl than vice versa. I'd wait on the amnio results to be on the safe side. Those will be a lot more accurate. Congrats either way!

Nothing is definite in medicine, no doctor will ever give a 100% diagnosis but with ultrasound... as long as they can get a clear shot of the genital region they are usually right on. I've had 3 and the 2 were correct. I won't know the third until i deliver in Jan. Good luck and congrats.

LOL.. nicely, boys tend to be extra precise than ladies. They made me wait to get my ultrasound until 23 weeks by way of fact they needed to be 'specific'... so i found out it grew to become right into a woman and that they instructed me they have been very specific, that they have been finding teh total time, even observed the areas! At approximately 33 weeks i grew to become into measuring small, so you could be secure they gave me yet another ultrasound. The tech asked me if i wanted to renowned what i grew to become into having and that i reported yeah, i already understand i'm having a woman.. adn he's such as you're having a what? who instructed you that? do you have names picked out? i grew to become into like yeah we are thinking olivia rae, the rooms all purple, closet is complete and so on... and he's like nicely, consistent with threat you will could pass with oliver by way of fact i'm a hundred and ten% specific you're having a boy... And he actually is a boy, and that i've got been instructed he has 'great areas' lol... sooo... you are able to by no ability be too specific!!!! :) fortuitously i wanted a boy! and that i used that intelligender attempt, which estimated a boy.. which grew to become into extra precise than teh ultrasound :)

most ultrasounds are done at about 20 weeks, but ultrasounds are pretty easy to read as long as you know what to look for. But if you are a little unsure try your best to wait until they do the amnio and then go shopping.

Have a friend who went for ultrascan and was told a baby girl. You know what, she gave birth to a baby boy. If you are going shopping for your baby's cloths, don't just stick to pink, get white colour, yellow colour or some other colour choice. At least you can still use it when you have another baby. Congrats!!!

My ultrasounds were always accurate but my ex husbands new wife was first told she was having a girl then a boy. She had a boy. I guess it just depends.

I had thought my son was going to be a girl until I was 37 weeks and they had finally seen a penis on my last ultrasound.

Well...I was pretty confident, but nothing is 100%. If you are going to be concerned, just buy versatile clothing or baby things until your other test are completed. No matter what, just be happy he or she is healthy.
