If Sacha Cohen did not have Jewish heritage, this movie would be received much differently. I saw the movie tonight and did my fair share of LOL. Although not a Jew, I do have Jewish heritage and found myself laughing at the absurdity of the Jewish slams. Many people however are not Jewish and don't know Sacha's heritage or motivation and seems to be laughing a little differently which I found to be disturbing. Do you think non-Jews and people unaware of Sacha heritage might be laughing for the wrong reasons or am I just a little sensitive on that issue. If you were unaware of Sacha's heritage, does knowing it change your perception of the film?

He's ridiculing racism, and exposing it to the real world, by showing people as they really are. His character is fictional, therefore Borat's beliefs are irrelevent. He's attempting to bring out the racism in people who normally would'nt show it.

Most people that did not know about Cohen found the movie offensive, disturbing and not funny at all. I for one knew about his show a long time ago and found the movie hilarious, it;s too bad that he had to pick on a country like Kazakhstan, but everyone should be able to laugh at one's self, whether it be jewish, christian, muslim, canadian :p and Kazakhi people. Don't u think the world would be better if everyone laughed at themselves once in a while instead of getting offended for the least of things ?!!?

Actually yes it does. I also saw the movie and I although I am not Jewish I was appalled by his excessive use of anti-semitism. Well what do you know, you live and learn. Thanks for the 411, next time I won't be so judgemental.
