I just got a call from my friend. Her teenage daughters best friend was just mowed down by a car. She was walking to school to sing in a choir concert. Now I know that the person who hit her didn't wake up this morning and intentionally want to hit a 16 year old girl, but crap....this poor teenager is being flown to a trauma center right now.....why can't people just pay the F_ ck attention the the road??? Is what you are doing in the car MORE important than somebodies life??

I agree. I will say a little prayer for that girl that got hit. I go to USC in LA and I ride a bike because its so convenient to get to and from school since parking is horrendous, but riding my bike is nothing less than frightening! People do not look for pedestrians or bikers at ALL. I have seen dozens of near hits, and actually witnessed 1 girl get hit on her bike pretty badly. I've seen drivers who just don't even bother to look, and others that see pedestrians going across the walk when its their turn, but the drivers DON'T CARE! They will just speed up and make their left or right turn right in front of the people trying to get across. Its enough to give a person a heart attack. Everyone is in such a hurry these days to get places, its so silly. As drivers we have a responsibility to be SAFE, not just get ourselves where we need to go as speedilly as possible, and just not enough people realize that. I really share in your frusteration...its so ridiculous...I never do stuff like that when I drive!

We've all been careless while driving and your story should make us realize we must be responsible. There's enough accidental reasons for accidents let alone just being careless.

There are situations when a person passes out at the wheel not even knowing anything was wrong with them. I've also know of people having panic attacks while driving. If they know they have them, they should be prepared to pull over or have someone else drive the.

Any time you are driving or riding in a car, any kind of accident may happen.
