Buy a Christmas book (Twas the Night Before Christmas is a good one) and write in the inside cover, "Merry Christmas (your baby's name). May every Christmas be as special as this, your first one." Or something equally nice. Every year you'll pull out the book to read together and it will be a special keepsake for them.

Well, the baby is too small to realize what's going on, but that shouldn't stop you from doing what you find enjoyable. If you want to buy your baby Christmas presents do so! Even if they aren't going to play with them, that doesn't mean you can't get them toys to play with when they are old enough. Get the baby some rattles or something like that that the baby will be able to be entertained by at about 2 mos. Or, get ahead of the game and grab ahold of those Christmas sales and get some 6 month old toys. That way, you will already have then when the baby is old enough. Congratulations!

My son was born Dec 29, so I thought it would be a good idea to get him something for the long run, considering he wasn't going to be playing with anything. They sleep all the time, so he/she may not be that alert, and probably won't be smiling or laughing yet, and toys won't do it for the baby becuase they don't have the strenght to hold on to a toy, although your hair is not a problem. I would get him a savings bond, something he can cash when he's 18-21 or whenever he decides. Something that you can use as a memory. But if you don't have a little chair that vibrates, it would be a life saver, it's good for him/her because it may comfort them when you're not holding him/her, and most kids seem to like it. You keep saying them, having twins? Well then 2 chairs. Good luck, it's always great to be a winter baby.

Buying something for the baby means more to you and your husband than to the baby. But the baby will cherish it later when she looks at the pictures. Buy something nice for the baby and enjoy the whole shopping experience. As for any gift tips, I say go for something useful like clothes in one or two sizes bigger or toys that he may play when he is a little older. That ways your husband's family will also be satisfied that you are not wasting money. You can buy during the thanksgiving weekend for bargain deals. That saves a lot of money.

Even though your baby isn't old enough to realize it is Christmas, you do so it means something to you and it's a memory that you will share with the child in years to come. You can buy the baby clothes, a baby swing if you don't have one already (they find it soothing), a cd that is music of a heart beating (newborns also love the sound of the beating heart because it is comforting to them because that is all they really hear when they are in the womb).

SAve yourself some money. Get her a stocking with a new pacifier and blankie in it, and a rattle, and maybe a cute Christmas outfit. Also a commemorative ornament for her first Christmas would be good. That's all she needs. Take lots of pictures and have fun!

You can get some little christmas bears for the crib or outfits and taking christmas pics...But, it will mainly be for your benefit, but what the hay! It's christmas, and the baby will be apart of the family soon, why treat him like an outcast?

I agree. Buy you and your husband something this year. This will be the last year to enjoy it with each other. Next year spoil the baby. It's the best when they see the presents for the first time.

honestly, my son was 6 months at christmas, and i only got a few things for him, some clothes, and a stuffed animal, i left the gift giving to all the other family members, he didnt miss out on anything, and he got plenty. you baby wont miss out, just take pics of your baby, with the tree and they will cherish that forever, and they will never remember the lack of gifts.
