I kept my in...I got a special barbell for it and it allowed me to keep it in.
Stretch marks will happen or not irregardless of a belly button piercing. It's heriditary, some women get them and some don't. I was lucky and did not.

Most women have to remove the jewelry during the 3rd trimester due to the swelling. Whether or not it stays open depends on how long you had it. For example, if you get it at 15, and get pregnant in your 20's or 30's, yeah, it will probably stay open. If you get it at 22 and get pregnant at 24, maybe, maybe not. What some women do is put a piece of fishing line in the hole to keep it open, and once they have the baby, they go back to their piercer, who gently re-stretches the piercing so jewelry can be inserted. There are also flexiable pieces of jewelry that work for some people. Also, ignore the first guy's comments. He's a judgemental idiot. I've had my navel pierced for 5 years, and I am doing rather well in life. Hell, I don't even WANT any kids, let alone have them to get on welfare.

Seaelen beat me to the punch. You don't have to take out your ring if you don't want to. Talk to your doctor about it, mine gave me the pregnancy piercings website and it worked wonders. You can even use those rings if you have surgery of any kind, because there is no metal. If it starts bothering you though, you might want to consider taking it out. It won't cause stretch marks. But when you are ready to become pregnant you can decide whether or not you want to keep the piercing or not(if you do definitely check into the pregnancy piercings website).

I did only when the ring was starting to hurt because it was keeping my stomach from "stretching" In fact all my co-workers were telling me I had to take it out, but I had just had my button pierced 1 month before I found out I was pregnant!!! I didn't even know that there were special rings. As long as you keep it clean and don't acquire an infection; what's the harm. It's just like having earrings in!!!

i took out my belly ring within a month of finding out i was pregnant. the doc said that i didnt have to unless it started to stretch. i did get a couple of stretch marks near my belly button because of the skin where it was pierced getting so tight. the best advice that i can give u is to make sure u clean it very well while its out because gunk will build up in the hole.

i have heard that you should take it out, because of the stretching your belly does... I had my belly button pierced, and when i found out i was pregnant, i took it out right away...just to be safe..and anyway now, i dont want one anymore, but there is a scar...My friends mom left hers in, and when she went to give birth, put fishing wire through the hole, until she went home?!?! I guess its up to you!!

There are a lot of diseases that can come from having body piercings,. As you are planning on having a baby, why not try to be a more responsible person now. Get rid of it. It could only make you a better example and happier person. Children need a no compromise good parent.

It depends because some doctors will tell you that its not a problem but when your belly starts getting bigger it makes it harder to keep in. But, my friend had put a plastic one in when she was pregnant but her stomach wasn't really big.

i keept mine in. i think it all depends on the belly button and how your tummy stretches with the growth of the baby.

Yes. They say that they will give you stretch marks, but you will get stretch marks, eventually, while your pregnant, but it would be in your best interest to take the ring out, if you become pregnant.
