My opinion is that alot of people are just in a big hurry. I always had an easy time with linguistics and spelling, but use the spell check anyway as it doesn't take that much time to make your question or answer understandable, and to help people know exactly what you are saying.

Another thing I am sad to say, is that over the years, even though we've made some great changes and progess in the world, for good communication skills, not much beats really good teachers who make you feel good and lift your self-esteem, and lead you to want to listen and learn. These"teachers" can come from any walk in life, not just school or family. And at any time. Although , families have changed a great deal. No family unit was ever perfect, but when I was a kid, it was, go home from school, do your chores, start your homework, eat dinner as a family unit and get help and support from caregivers when needed.

I guess things are not that way any more, for a lot of societal and cultural changes, and If I sound like I probably grew up watching "Leave it to Beaver", etc. in a two-parent, traditional family, with the requesite dogs and cats and an older brother I played with and fought with, and everybody in my neighborhood knew everybody else, I did. My Mom worked, Dad worked two jobs, and my brother and I both started working part time at around age 14, I still have friends from my old neighborhood, and it's a wonderful thing to have, along with making new friends along the way.

An Anthropologist or Sociologist could certainly give you much more detailes answers. I just know my own life experiences. (Like never locking the doors in my neighborhood except later, and then only at night. I miss these things, obviously, but embrace all the Exciting new things that have and are happening in my lifetime. I can remenice, and still be a femininst. I can respect all people of all colors and backgrounds, and they expand my kife in such a positive way.

I apologize, sometimes I can go off on a tangent, but I am a home-bound, disabled person, and this is a way for me to communicate with an array of other human beings in all age groups, nationalities, backgrounds, and I find it very uplifting.
. Thanks for asking your question, having the opportunity to connect with another person is very helpul to me.

To you and many others, I am sure I'm a very old middle aged person. My claim to fame is that I'm a ":Baby Boomer" who grew up in a wonderful time in history, the 60"s (where, the saying goes " if you say you remember them, you weren't really there) Not true. I have many wonderful memories of that exciting era, and some of my friends kids used to think I was pretty "cool!."

because people now a days like to take shortcuts and think that it is cute to mis-spell or to take a shortcute. my theory is that people cannot write or do not practice it enough by hand or on the lab top or they were taught the right grammar and do not know when to use the words! people like that annoy me and one of them is my bf who mis-spells words and English is his first language while for me Romanian is my first language and English is my second one yet I can spell and formulate better than him or half of the people on Yahoo! Answers. other people are lazy or do not know what version of the word to use when the words sound exactly alike while my guess is that people do not care !

Sometimes you mind goes faster than your fingers and spell check only gets spelling errors not grammatical errors. I know that I'm guilty of leaving out a word or a letter sometimes. I guess we can just chalk it up to humans are imperfect.

WIN isn't spelled incorrectly, so a spell checker can't correct its misuse. In American English WIN and WHEN are homophonetic---promoting their mistakability.

Because they didn't pay attention on what they were doing and also they didn't have the habit to check after they're done.
