From experience, my 3 mo. old tries to mimic my movements, and mimic the words I say to her. She's been doing i since she was 2 mo. old. she sticks her tongue out when I do it to her. I tell her I love her, and she tries to say it back( of course it's baby talk) but she has the general sounds of the words. it's really awesome!

research shows that even right after the baby is born, the baby can imitate someone. The most common one is when a mother sticks her tongue out-the baby will copy her. Its pretty amazing!

It is amazing. My baby is two months and does the same thing to a...the letter a said and exaggerated to aaaaa and then she smiles and goes aaaaa. It is so amazing, and i swear to god she waved today..for the first time. she followed the neighbor with her eyes when he was talking to her, and then he put his hands in an exaggerated wave and said goodbye, and she smirked and then put her hand up and did a wave..it was firggen amazing but at the same time i wonder if its to early for her to do this aswell..

my daughter at about 2 1/2 months was making a bunch of noise for me to pick her up and i started saying, "Say mommmma.." and she did. not too great but first it was a, "na na na" then it went to a :na, ma ma". I think they can start very early the more you practice it with them.
