The year was 1970. Mr Ferguson was the P.E. teacher at our school. Big as Hulk
Hogan he kept a 2x4 plank in his desk. He loved to make the students bend over their desks, where he would give three hard licks at the least infraction of the rules. Sometimes while walking down the hall, he would snatch a student up in the air and slam him against the wall. "When's the last time you have been jacked up?"
he would say. Parents loved him and would shower him with gifts at
christmas. I still have chills when I think of him walking by, but we learned dicipline and how to respect others. There was a time when
students feared their teachers, now the teachers fear them. Mr.
Ferguson must be rolling over in his grave.

Well, i don't think slamming a kid up against the wall is appropriate. I believe in spankings, not abuse. I consider that to be a abuse. Where I'm from teachers do spank the students when they misbehave. That's still done to this day. But slamming a kid up against the wall isn't cool.

Nothing in excess is ever good.

Yes children need to learn discipline. I still wack my kids SOMETIMES but not for every small mistake. The punishment has to be at par with the mistake. Ifell most mistakes deserve forgiveness after a thorough explanation as to why they are wrong. Repeat offences of the same kind should be punished.
