Technically the mind and the brain are not the same thing. The brain is an organ (concrete), and the mind is abstract.

The brain is hardware.
The mind is software. Either that or the concept of a "mind" is a figment of the brain's imagination. Software controls hardware. Or is the fleshy hardware simply self aware and likes to define the awareness as the "MIND"?

Technically the mind and the brain are the same thing. Now if you are asking the classic psychology question, does the mind influence control the body or the body influence the mind, that is a different philisophical question.

You're lost in the obvious. Our existence has a material and non-material sides and we need both to function. (the soul & body) You write with which finger? with 3 at the same time. Thinking envolves the organ and the abstract mind. To make it easier for you human beings are like computers they have hardware and software you need both at the time.
