Secondly, you must memorize all the identities they taught you at school, such as double angle identities and pythagoras identities and the like. A helpful hint is to convert everything to sin and cos before you procede. Thus, for the number 1 cos θ ( 1/cosθ - cosθ) = (sinθ)^2 note that secθ = 1/cosθ- memorize that and multiply cos θ in! so 1 -(cosθ)^2 = (sinθ)^2 note the secθ and cosθ cancel each other out now note that since (sinθ)^2 + (cosθ)^2 = 1, 1-(cosθ)^2 = (sinθ)^2 substitue that into the left side of the equation so (sinθ)^2 = (sinθ)^2 Job done! So first step is to memorize those identities, second is to make everything sin and cos, and last is to plug those identities and solve. If you need more help, just ask.
