Work hard now so you can take it easy in the future? This is something I hear often but still have to wonder about. Ever known a person who died at a relatively young age? They worked hard “now” and then died before there was a “future”.

I’d think it’s better to live now and then die when you’re time’s up without any regrets. If you’re the type of person who needs to keep busy, there are ways to do that while living, such as mountain climbing, world travel, Peace Corps, etc. You can accomplish more that way than you could by sitting in an office.

If all you do now is work, life’s eventually going to pass by; there’s no pause button. Make the most of it while you can!

The answer is both. Most people who are workaholics are driven by a need to accomplish something. If you had all the money you needed it doesn't make your life fulfilling. The need and desire to accomplish things for the good of others is what makes lives better for all of us.

i'm with froggy, i work to live and get bored when i'm just sitting around. i get bored and feel like a lazy lump if i'm not doing something productive. i think it's probably best that there are both types in the world. it balances things out.

Both. U spend more time at work than at home. but you also work to have the finer things in life and to relax when you get older.
