I searched this kind of question on Yahoo Answers, but the answer I saw was unclear to me. The qestion is: "A beam of light has a wavelength of 595 nm. What is its frequency?"

I was absent when we covered this, and I don't know the steps that I need to take in order to solve this problem. Can anyone help? Thanks =)

The frequency in the number of times the wave vibrates in one second.
In your question, you probably have light. The speed of light is 300,000km/s. If you multiply the frequency and the wavelength, you get the speed. That is v=lf
That 595nm is actually 595x10e-9m or 0,000000595m
The speed of light is 3x10e8m/s
So the frequency is
f=v/l
f=300000000/0.000000595
f=504201680672268.91
f=5.1e14 hertz
