Depending on his weight, and other factors, he should be sitting more and more on his own in the next few weeks. His birth weight should have nearly doubled, by now. His teeth are probably beginning to make their appearance. He responds more to certain sounds and his name. His hair should be filling out. He probably is crying with 'real' tears, and is starting to coo and babble, as displays of communication.

Babies r wonderful to observe aren't they? They do such awesome things at the most inopportune of times, mostly when u don't have that camera to make that moment eternal. None though come with instructions and most certainly all have their times for doing whatever functions they r going to do no matter who says what. No expert can predict when a child will do what they do they can only assume. To guesstimate when the baby should be functioning a certain way is a dishonor to u and the baby and a dis-service to that child because it is already being labeled as slow or too fast for themselves, PLS don't fall into when ur baby should be doing what others think they should be doing and wait for the miracle of surprise U'll love it even more and the moments will be unmeasurable not to mention unforgettable.

Roll from back to stomach ,play with their toes , turn toward sound , reach for / bring object to mouth , babble, double birth weight usually by 6 months, Warning signs are not turning towards loud noise, trouble feeding,no rolling over, not exploring hands, feet & mouth or not holding head up when lying on tummy.By 9 months he should sit without support.

I had 10 children. Each one is an individual. Some babies sit up at that age. I had one that could sit at 4 months and one that didn't sit til 8 months. Most sat by six months. Your baby will probably sit up soon and start to try to pull himself up. Before you know it he will be walking around the furniture. But don't fret if it takes a little longer. Some are just more timid.

Your son seems to doing well, it wont be long before he can sit on his own. Also he will soon be rolling back from his stomach to his back. Then you will find him rolling all over the place. Don't be in a hurry for him to grow up, they do that so quickly themselves. Enjoy this stage of his life.

It does sound like he wil be sitting up on his own very soon. But remember, every child is different and goes at thier own pace. As long as you see progress, your son is doing well. Take the time to enjoy this time, pretty soon he'll be crawling all over the place (better child proof your home now), then walking, the running and getting into everything. Enjoy this fun time!

My daughter is almost 5 months. She is rolling around, grasping objects with her hand, playing with her feet and sitting up with little support. Your son should be able to sit up on his own at 6 months. Have you started him on solids yet? Mine is on rice cereal, veggie puffs, and assorted mashed veggies.

he can be sitting up any where from now to about 7 month's. my daughter started sitting up when she was 6 1/2 month's. so he's is about right for his age. don't rush him and try to get him to do it. he will do it when he is ready too.
