Giving a bribe is when you give somebody money and expect them to do something for you in return. It's like buying a favor. For example, if your daughter is not doing her homework and you give her 10 bucks to do it, that's bribe. The only reason she did the homework was because of the money. The only reason you were willing to give her the money in the first place was so that she would do the homework. Can you understand that?
Just giving somebody money is different. It's when you give someone money and you dont really expect anything in return. For example, if a homeless guy/beggar asks you for a dollar and you give it to him, you are just giving him money. There is no way you expect anything in return. He won't pay you back with interest and he sure as hell won't do you a favor. He might use it to buy food or some booze. Another example is giving a charity $100 because they said so and convinced you about poverty or the hardships of cancer or something. They are SO not gonna give you much in return, but you did it out of the kindness of your heart. That's what it is to just give money.
I hope my examples helped you. Bribing is considered to be a "sinful" thing that you should never do. Especially not when you are trying to raise your kids (not that you are, but I'm just getting that off of my chest).

A bribe is the giving of money or a thing of value in the expected return of an item or act that you wish.
If you get arrested and offer the officer cash, or sexual services in exchange for being released. That is a bribe.

A bribe is money given to influence a decision or action in your favor. Giving money is a gift with no strings attached.

Bribes like Blago did is illegal. Obama, Dodd, and Frank did the same thing, but the legal way. What I don't understand is why did Frank get voted in again? Don't the democrats have a clue what this guy did?

A bribe is when you give someone money in order to corrupt them, usually in such a way that it benefits you. i.e. paying off politicians to change laws in your business's favor regardless of the consequences. If you just give someone money, you don't expect anything in return.

With a bribe, you get something in return. Their silence, their cooperation, a favor, usually something intangible...since money for an object would just be "buying"---a gift is simply that... a gift given without expectations of a returned action other than thanks.

in my own words, bribes are something you do in return for something else.
eg, i want my brother/sister to bring me a cup of water because i'm feeling lazy. so i say, "hey, bro/sis, if you get me a cup of water i'll give you a piece of chocolate." (something like that...)
hope you get it :)
